Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child or self need a doctor’s referral?

Nope!!! Kansas allows Direct Access to physical therapy. This means patients do not need a referral from their doctor to be seen by a physical therapist. If you have concerns about your baby or yourself and are wondering if an evaluation is needed, reach out for your free Discovery Call via text or call to 316-768-8090 or via email kristin@kristinewertzpt.com. We can discuss together if an evaluation is needed.

How many visits will treatment require?

There are a number of different factors that determine length of treatment. At the initial evaluation, we will discuss prognosis and the plan of care individualized for each client.

Do you accept insurance?

We are an out-of-network practice and do not directly bill your insurance company. We require payment at the time of service. However, we do provide you with a detailed invoice and superbill (upon request) so you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. The superbill will include all the information, along with medical and treatment codes, needed to submit for reimbursement. Reimbursement is subject to each individual’s insurance plan and does not guarantee payment in full. We recommend verifying your out-of-network coverage for physical therapy services if reimbursement is desired.

What does it mean to be cash pay/out-of-network?

I want to work directly with you and your family and take out the third-party involvement to create better outcomes and in turn create savings for you. Being Cash Pay/Out-of-Network allows me the flexibility to provide services that meet the needs of you and your family. I strive to provide individualized treatment.

Do you accept HSA/FSA cards?

Yes! We also accept payments via cash, credit/debit cards, or check.

What does a therapy session consist of?

The goal of therapy is to provide your baby with the ability to master all motor skills independently, including feeding, tummy time, head movements, reaching, rolling, sitting, crawling, transitioning, standing and walking. A baby who has difficulty with any of these motor skills likely has a combination of areas that need to be addressed. Treatment for your baby will consist of a multi-system approach with a combination of the following treatments: parent/family education, manual therapy, movement exercises, repositioning strategies, and functional activities. Manual therapy includes gentle skilled techniques to address the joints, muscles, fascia, and nervous system. The multi-system approach is used to give babies the most successful outcomes.
